Required Skills

  • Must have 2-3 years of Program Management experience within metals, stamping or machining
  • Preferred Engineering Degree but is also open to Business Degree
  • Travel 20% mostly local (Chicago or IN)
  • Must have APQP experience
  • Preferred experience in product development and manufacturing
  • PM will be tracking program timing, open issues and attending meetings
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in engineering, advanced degree such as an MBA a plus
  • 6+ years of experience working for an automotive supplier or OEM
  • 4+ years of experience working for an automotive supplier as a program manager
  • Solid knowledge of project management concepts & discipline
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Understanding of Product Development / manufacturing processes and typical obstacles encountered which would prevent flawless launch of customer product
  • A strong, persuasive communication style to communicate complex issues to a variety of individuals and persuade them to take necessary actions
  • Previous experience implementing processes, procedures, and methods that enabled a company to improve their performance
  • Stable career history showing tenure with a company
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts and the Toyota Production System
  • Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project management software

Job Description

  • Oversee all aspects customer program such as development, timing, APQP activity and production launch
  • Ensures compliance to all IATF 16949 requirements for all programs under management
  • Verify that new equipment and tooling is ordered to support customer requirements
  • Lead regular Program Review with Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing and executive mgmt
  • Document and monitors program objectives by means of open issues lists, milestone reviews and launch (manufacturing) readiness reviews
  • Ensure countermeasures are initiated to correct unfavorable variances by communicating alternative measures internally and externally to resolve timing / engineering issues
  • Provide expert technical leadership in coordinating, facilitation, motivating and directing efforts of cross functional program teams including individuals from Sales, Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing
  • Validate prototype schedules are created to ensure that customer orders are filled and product is delivered to customers as requested
  • Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of goals
