Required Skills

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or other related area, or 5-10 years, equivalent experience
  • Database certification, such as MSDBA or MySQL, or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Experience with Database Administration for Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL
  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, replication, T-SQL, query optimization, and tuning
  • 3 years of experience with MySQL DBMS administrations, including clustering, replication, InnoDB, MyISAM, performance tuning
  • 3 years of experience and reasonable comfort level in command line operation of Linux Enterprise Operating Systems, especially RHEL (RedHat Enterprise Linux) and Ubuntu
  • 5 years of experience with Strong scripting skills as relevant to DBA functions and activities
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar productivity products
  • Experience managing multiple MS SQL Server production, test, and development environments, supporting MS SQL 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, and 2016
  • Experience with backup, restore and recovery models
  • Experience with MySQL Cluster, Router and HA technologies

Job Description

  • Responsible for data integration
  • Evaluate and recommend data retrieval, storage and management strategies
  • Evaluate corporate standards, methodologies, policies and procedures to ensure compatibility and peak performance throughout all database structures
  • Ability to identify and define, and document business problems and opportunities
  • Provides technical assistance to staff in all aspects of database management
  • Consults and advises application development teams on database design, security, query optimization and performance
  • Manages the design, integrity, constraints, indexes, monitoring, performance, replication, mirroring, log shipping, security, availability, capacity management, and access requirements for databases
  • Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed
  • Provides technical leadership during the development and enhancement of the enterprise’s production applications including working with applications, technical support and operations during the design, development and implementation of applications
  • Gather the data necessary to provide information to evaluate performance, address areas of concern, and do trend analysis
  • Performs DB support activities in partnership with internal and external service providers and ensure that activities are handled within agreed to standards
  • Manages upgrades and installations of Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2, 2012, 2014, 2014 and other database related software
  • Manages installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of MySQL DBMS and tools on RedHat Enterprise Linux
  • Develop internal quality processes, standards, and verify they are adhered to, i.e. backup systems, naming conventions
  • Ensure each system is fully documented
  • Work with developers and customers to resolve individual product performance issues relating to databases as needed
  • Properly exercise given authority to execute assigned responsibilities within the parameters established by management
  • Participation in 24x7 on-call rotation
  • Provide off-hours support as required to perform job functions and ensure service delivery
