Required Skills

  • Minimum: 4-year degree in engineering or technical field
  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience is required
  • Some metal fabrication (machining, welding, assembly or shop practices) is required
  • 5-10 years of experience with steel structures and mechanical systems
  • 5+ years of experience with FEA, GD&T, Stacks, DVP, DFMEA's
  • 5+ years of experience in an automotive or Tier One supplier setting in the auto, defense, agricultural or heavy truck products
  • 3 - 5 years of design concept experience, scope definition, FEA analysis and mechanical simulation
  • Self-directed individual with the ability to resolve technical issues independently
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize complex range of activities
  • Design knowledge of fasteners, fastened joints, machining, welding
  • Hands-on mechanical experience is required. Some metal fabrication (machining, welding, assembly or shop practices) is required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project(s) to completion
  • Show interest in the automotive industry, specifically: trends, new vehicle introductions
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • SolidWorks expertise is a plus

Job Description

  • Develop innovative and cost-effective products on time to meet medium and long-term business objectives
  • Engineer, design, validate and release new products or applications
  • Develop new products from design concept using CAE tools in a Solidworks environment
  • Gather all pertinent information for part design from inspection of the OEM components and vehicles
  • Maintain engineering records pertaining to material masters, bills of material, product drawings and system requirements for all releases and changes in the product
  • Resolve design issues, manufactured or sourced product, evaluate components and assemblies as needed
  • Work independently in the pursuit of APQP deliverables (Drawings, Risk Reg.,DFMEA, Load Cases, DVP, Stacks, etc.)
  • Execute fabrication tasks may include welding, press operation, lathe, mill and hand tool use
  • Lead field and warranty analysis for aftermarket field returns
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis to evaluate design solutions
  • Some travel is expected
  • Performs other duties as assigned
