  • Must be able and willing to take on challenges in all aspects of an Injection Molding operation, applying themself to be part of the team that provides continuous positive results, by using best practice techniques of the industry and applying these to coordinate the efforts of the team, identifying opportunities that improve the quality, production, delivery to our customer while reducing waste
  • Must have interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple classifications of personnel, as wells as multiple projects, at the same time (coordinate, motivate and mentor)
  • Manages projects that could include: new equipment justification, selection, and installation; development of new manufacturing methods; machine utilization studies; and new tooling

Job Description

  • Manages projects that could include: new equipment justification, selection, and installation; development of new manufacturing methods; machine utilization studies; and new tooling qualifications; in conjunction with the tooling process engineer, he / she will be responsible for new tool design and development
  • Develops a training program for process technicians and mold changers; leads cycle time improvements, mold change time reductions, and decreased process troubleshooting time
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws; responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; work closely with the production group to ensure continuity within all shifts
  • Have a working knowledge of tooling and the requirements of a successful tool / process combination; expected to understand the YFAI tool prove out process
  • The Lead PE will need to work with the plant to identify capital improvement opportunities and develop justification; when applicable the PE will need to write an appropriation’s request, follow the request through the approval process, and help the plant implement
  • Must be computer literate, proficient in MS Office products
  • An excellent communicator – both verbal and written
  • Able to identify unstable process windows and target improvement on any aspect or equipment and generate a concise report using corresponding software to convey the necessary steps for improvement 
  • Able to compile daily, weekly, and monthly action plans or reports for issues causing waste
  • Should facilitate solutions while coordinating the efforts of the Process Engineering team for implantation of improvements
  • Willing to follow established action plans for processes out of range while identifying corrective opportunities
  • Capable to develop and maintaining standards of Injection Molding Machine (aka IMM) processes and sub-assemblies
  • Familiar with sub-assemblies, secondary or value adding operations; inserts, pressing functions, and ultrasonic welding 
  • Versatile with the IMM, IMM process part picker robot, material conveyance and resin blenders
  • Experienced in the IMM Tooling and able to work with the tool shop for tool repair and maintenance 
  • Hands on experience in die setting and clear understanding of best practices
  • Able to test new materials and processes in order to achieve the best quality, process, and reputability
  • Mentor, motivate, direct, and evaluate Process Engineers, Process Technicians, Mold Setters for adequate training, knowledge, performance and efficiency that align with the best practices and company’s performance requirements and goals
  • Identifies Continuous improvements project with supporting data in order to assure sustainable benefits 
  • Additional duties may apply depending on the facilities needs and requirements
