Required Skills

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Material Engineering with 5+ year’s automotive manufacturing experiences
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process, APQP, seven QC tools & root cause analysis
  • Shop floor engineering experiences is a plus
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
  • Ability to perform massive amounts of data analysis, data mining, and recognizing common data patterns, advanced skills in MS Access & MS Excel is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills & the ability to successfully coordinate & complete multiple tasks within & across departments
  • Excellent communications skills: verbal, written & technical presentations
  • Self-motivated and action oriented requiring minimal supervision

Job Description

  • Curator of interior / exterior parts warranty performances
  • Analyze warranty data & dealer verbatim, provides team with timely identification of warranty trend / concerns
  • Provide field quality report (Pareto charts, Trend analysis, Top issue lists, etc)
  • Champion of field issue identification, fail mode diagnosis & root cause investigation
  • Supervise field return (warranty part) inspection process
  • Perform tear down analysis of field returns
  • Warranty part retrofit & dealership visit as required
  • Work with design engineers & manufacturing counterparts to determine appropriate tests to diagnose failure mode and root causes
  • Champion of interior / exterior parts warranty cost reduction
  • Create technical report to summarize field issues, fail modes & root causes to determine appropriate % of responsibility contributed to the field issues
  • Presentation & negotiation the appropriate warranty cost share rate with the customers
  • Customer support
  • Participates warranty reviews at customer warranty review centers, manages warranty projects initiated by OEM customers
  • Initiates root cause investigation using appropriate OEM problem solving methodologies
  • Design support
  • Create “warranty lessons learned” report to design group as required
  • Participates in creating design solutions to address warranty issues
