Job Description

  • Perform the more complex and specialized mechanical and / or electrical tests on product components or series of components
  • Develops special purpose instrumentation and / or shop or laboratory test equipment
  • Maintains records on work performed, analyzes data collected, reports results
  • Recommends revisions to product or component design
  • Maintains good housekeeping, safety practices and supplies
  • Coordinates and exchanges findings with engineering personnel outside work group on an occasional basis
  • The position you are being considered for is in a department called Instrumentation and Equipment (I&E)
  • A person working in I&E would expect to work in one or more of the following areas:
  • Troubleshooting and repair of all items making up the test cell facility, including fuel systems, dynamometers, pumps, heaters, heat exchangers, collecting motor vibration data, filter replacement, installing and calibrating cell transducers, harness and wiring troubleshooting, etc.
  • Fabricating specialty equipment with or without drawings, such as fluid conditioning systems, specialty brackets, special carts, etc., using existing and purchased parts where necessary (welding skills are big plusses in this area)
  • Installation, calibration, set-up, and troubleshooting of exhaust gas emission equipment
  • Equipment preventive and predictive maintenance work
