Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Background in Product Development: (Validation, Reliability Engineering, Quality Tools, Design Release Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, etc.)
  • Familiar with web collaboration tools (WebEx and Share-point)
  • Understanding of Excel, Word, and Powerpoint computer applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
  • Good project management and team facilitation skills
  • Experience facilitating Design or Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA / PFMEA), or Design Review Based on Failure Modes (DRBFM)
  • DFSS Black Belt certification

  • Understanding of and ability to use data systems and tools

Job Description

  • Responsible for coaching or leading Design / Process Quality Chain activities with cross functional teams
  • This includes: DFSS planning / execution / tracking, Lead and support of Design Failure Mode and Effects (DFMEA) planning / execution / tracking / PFMEA connectivity, ICDs, KCDS, process control plans, and other Quality Chain activities as required
  • Work with BOM Family Owners (BFO), Design Engineers’, Quality Reliability Durability leads and others in developing problem prevention plans using Quality Tools to meet Customer Expectations
  • Act as the Voice of the Customer leader within the PDT
  • Lead the evaluation of product program content for risks to future product quality in terms of initial quality, customer satisfaction, and long term reliability using a cross functional approach
  • Has a good understanding of Quality Chain Framework and can apply the knowledge effectively to when things go wrong (i.e., Warranty, PAL / Field Actions…)
  • Coach / mentor DREs with application of Quality Chain linkages / connectives across the entire GVDP process
  • Mentor DREs with application of DFSS to Quality Chain Work Elements (ICDs, KCDS, FMEAs, PCPs)
  • Participate in PRD, Prevent Repeat Defect process to institutionalize lessons learned from DFSS & Quality Chain Learnings
  • Work with Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Validation, AVDC, Suppliers as required to apply understanding of Defect Free Execution across all Quality Chain Phases (Requirements / Standards, Core Execution and Validation / Certification)
  • Can identify potential signs of Defect in the design of product / process and help DREs to develop actions to mitigate risks
  • Conduct research on current field issues affecting SMT / Program (Warranty, JDP, Compass etc.) to develop a summary of learnings to help establish Quality priorities to be used as lessons learned in DFSS and DFMEA discussions
  • Plan, schedule, track, and facilitate: DFSS (robustness plans) / program and baseline subsystem DFMEAs
  • Collaborate with Program Quality Engineers and Product Engineering to establish priorities to address risks and opportunities in BOM selections, New Content, and carryover usages
  • Participate in Global forums and BOM Robustness initiatives for assigned product areas
  • Understand global competitiveness of products in assigned product areas using competitive data (JD Power, NCBS, Benchmarking data, etc.)
  • Follow-up on open action items and provide status updates
  • Follow industry (AIAG, SAE) and the company’s standard practices and workbooks
