Required Skills

  • Person must have a high level of mechanical aptitude and at least one year working as an ANBM Line Operator or three or more years of experience in machine repair within a production environment
  • Associate's degree, certificate or apprenticeship training in machine repair, hydraulics, electronics or other related field is highly preferred
  • Certified to inspect finished goods
  • General knowledge of material handling, manufacturing processes, quality control systems
  • Working knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and some electronics
  • Ability to read machine drawings and customer part blue prints
  • Strong working knowledge of arithmetic and geometry
  • Capability to use Powered Industrial Trucks (forklift, motorized pallet jacks and standups)
  • Aptitude to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic to solve work-related issues and problems
  • Capacity to get work done in a timely fashion with little or no supervision

Job Description

  • Adjust, modify, troubleshoot, and repair computerized production machines used in heat-treating, grinding, turning, broaching, measuring components, or assembling automotive wheel bearings
  • Essential Responsibilities (Tasks)
  • Set-up and operate double disc grinders and centerless grinders in our feed bearing environment
  • Inspect, replace, check, and adjust key machine parts such as gauges, grinding shoes, grinding wheels, blades, belts, pulleys, dressers, diamonds, spindles, and motors
  • Perform root cause analyses on mechanical machine breakdowns, then produce and implement long-lasting solutions for such failures
  • Determine if productivity problems are caused by machine malfunction or material
  • Inspect finished products for quality and ensure customer specifications are met by measuring parts with hand gauges and setting machine gauges to masters
  • Monitor production processes and calibrate or adjust machine devices and sensors for better quality and productivity
  • Troubleshoot a variety of machine problems such as part size variation, machine jams, or slow cycle time and make necessary adjustments or repairs
  • Start-up and shut- down production equipment according to Lock-Out Tag-Out
  • Perform routine maintenance on production equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Accurately document downtime, machine repairs, and spare part usage
  • Participate in MRR improvement and scrap reduction meetings
  • Help train and develop Operators and other Machine Technicians
  • Apply principles of 5S to production lines so everything is organized, clean, and safe
  • Follow all company rules and regulations related to environmental, health, and safety
