Job Description

  • Risk management: be able to analyze and identify any issues that may be a negative impact to the company
  • Analytical Skills: be able to work with multiple vendors
  • Decision-Making Skills: be able to use the information that was gathered to make decisions on behalf of the company
  • Math Skills: basic math skills to be able to analyze prices and get the best cost possible
  • Negotiating Skills: be able to work with suppliers to create the best contract
  • Excel (beyond basic)
  • Review all purchase order requests for accuracy and, if required, modify before processing into a final purchase order
  • Responsible for creating and sending purchase orders to the vendors
  • Responsible for
  • competitive bids
  • through requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotations (RFQs) and requests for information (RFIs)
  • Supplier relationship management (SRM) – communicate with vendors in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries and other potential issues related to an open purchase orders
  • Communicate with and support other departments with their purchasing needs
  • Maintaining a suitable and diverse pool of suppliers
  • Review opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Work closely with others on the Purchasing Team
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned by the manager
