Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, electronics, engineering, or similar technical field or 8 + years of professional experience of reliability physics in a test laboratory
  • 3 or more years’ experience of reliability physics in a laboratory test environment
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of PC based statistical analysis software
  • Strong computer skills
  • Knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications
  • Experience in creating and executing detailed product test plans
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge of failure analysis
  • Broad knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and data collection methods

Job Description

  • In this role you will have the opportunity to develop test procedures for reliability physics testing
  • Execute tests, analyze results, and document new test procedures
  • Provide product performance feedback to CAE model development team in advance of new product design activities
  • Supports CAE modeling efforts by developing and applying physics of failure concepts to Transportation & Industrial Solution products
  • Designs, executes, and documents new test procedures specific to reliability physics
  • Develop procedures and tools for applying physics of failure concepts to TIS products
  • Develop test procedures for stressing known failure modes and accelerating those failure modes through targeted applications of stress
  • Create test plans that detail the amount of stress, measurement techniques, and definition of pass / fail criteria for reliability physics testing
  • Work with CAE simulation team to understand parameters needed from testing to allow correlation of models to product functionality
  • Execute product lifecycle tests appropriate to specific failure modes and collect appropriate data sets needed for CAE model validation and lifecycle prediction methods
  • Optimize application of testing stresses by identifying primary and secondary stress factors in a given stress mode, going beyond profiles for validation testing
  • Develop measurement techniques to augment stress testing for isolating and recording key parametric data related to failure modes
  • Serve as subject matter expert for reliability physics testing
  • Provide statistical analysis of test results using appropriate lifecycle models
  • Record test methods and document them in best practice format so testing is repeatable and knowledge can be shared with validation testing team
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management
