  • B.S. in Engineering required, Mechanical or Industrial preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of Engineering experience in an automotive / truck manufacturing environment required; preferably in a manufacturing / industrial engineering capacity
  • Experience with the development, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and effectively implement short and long term counter measures
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming, Robot programming, Vision systems preferred
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, JIT, OEE, line sequencing, KANBAN, etc. a plus
  • Experience as a leader of cost focused solutions to manufacturing issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills and organizational aptitude
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, CAD programs, Visual Basic, etc.)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to read and interpret metal rule
  • Ability to read and interpret caliper readings
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding and to deal with problems involving multiple variables

Job Description

  • The primary function of this role is to provide leadership for continuous improvement teams and technical expertise for solving all types of process problems
  • Primary goals are to support improvement of plant metrics such as productivity, defect rates, scrap, and customer PPM
  • Lead small groups focused on continuous improvements and provide technical expertise solving process problems
  • Coordinate and communicate with other departments (Production, Maintenance, Quality, Process Planning, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot equipment and part defects
  • Implement corrective actions quickly and effectively
  • Manage process documentation such as work instructions and setup instructions
  • Develop new manufacturing equipment and processes, write equipment specifications
  • Optimize the manufacturing processes to improve quality and material flow, while reducing cycle times and set-up times
  • Work with the Process Planning team during development and launch of new equipment, tooling, and processes
  • Provide training for new and modified processes
