Required Skills

  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering or equivalent degree with at least 4 years of experience or Masters’ Degree with 2 years’ experience in some of the following areas of expertise
  • Digital design: FPGA design using VHDL / Verilog, hardware and firmware development with embedded DSP processors
  • Understanding of modern FPGA architectures and development tools
  • Good engineering problem solving skills including testing and achieving EMC standards
  • Self-motivated and able to accomplish complicated tasks with little supervision
  • Good communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools
  • C/C++ programming experience
  • Familiarity with Matlab and Simulink
  • Understanding of high-performance computing hardware and operating systems
  • Design of electronics to interface with instrumentation and other real-world devices
  • Understanding of automotive powertrain electronics and controls
  • Experience and knowledge of high-performance motor drives for test and dynamometer control purposes a plus

Job Description

  • Work in conjunction with marketing, manufacturing, software engineering, and other departments as necessary to generate product design specifications, provide estimates for product development cost and schedule, develop high quality products based on the design specifications, resolve product performance and functional issues
  • Uses knowledge, initiative, and skill to perform digital, analog, and firmware engineering and design projects
  • Develop product diagnostic and production test programs using appropriate software tools
  • Perform prototype product development and design verification, generate product engineering documentation as needed
  • Work as part of a team to ensure design meets all development objectives as outlined in the project development plan
  • Keep engineering management informed as to project status and issues
