Job Description

  • The Buyer has overall responsibilities for coordinating with Central Purchasing for building and maintaining the supply base
  • The successful candidate will work in a lean, fast-paced and rewarding work environment, where he / she will have the support and encouragement for developing a great career and achieving exceptional performance to help reach its goals
  • Participates in cross-functional teams and works with Operations to understand material / service requirements, clarify specific deliverables, and ensure compliance with company standards and processes
  • Coordinates with Central Purchasing to gain maximum leverage from the corporate supply base and identifies and evaluates local supply opportunities as appropriate
  • Remains abreast of industry developments and corporate imperatives and helps develop strategies to achieve quality, delivery, and total cost objectives
  • Processes purchasing requisitions / orders and other related documents
  • Obtains and analyzes quotations for accuracy and continually audits prices of materials and services
  • Negotiates and issues purchase agreements to ensure achievement of quality, delivery, and total cost requirement
  • Participates in expediting functions to ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Monitors Supplier Performance and directs resolution of complex commercial, legal, and operations supply issues
  • Identify and assists in implementing business process improvements
  • Manage all aspects of supplier relationships and development
  • Prepare bid analysis and negotiate purchasing contracts
  • Updating sourcing rules to allow proper generation of releases
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Resolve payment issues associated with pricing, aid in other disputes
  • Regular follow up of open issues
  • Creates RFQs, issuing and following-up with suppliers for RFQ responses
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers
  • Assist in develop strategies to achieve cost saving goals
  • Strong analytical skills to resolve unusual and difficult problems
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate purchasing policies and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Intermediate level computer skills required
  • Good oral and written communication skills require
