Required Skills

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required, B.S. in Materials, Business or related field or equivalent experience

  • Vanguard specific experience preferred
  • Experience with MRP systems, scheduling production and / or suppliers, Kanban and Lean Systems
  • Experience in dealing with suppliers to ensure on time delivery, quality and cost requirements
  • Interpersonal Skills ā€“ Team player, good oral and written communication skills
  • Problem solving ā€“ Must have strong analytical skills
  • Must have strong self-initiation and decision-making skills
  • Strong Vanguard knowledge required to effectively navigate system to assist with investigation of issues related to inventory
  • Physical / Mental / Visual Abilities ā€“ duties of the job require periods of standing, sitting, use of hands, walking

Job Description

  • Under the direction of the Materials Manager receives and analyzes customer release information ensuring all shipments are delivered to the customer on a timely basis
  • Ensures material obsolescence is not occurring
  • Responsible for all activities relating to vendors to assure that adequate raw material and components are available to support manufacturing requirements for all customers
  • Responsible for tracking bank builds, special build plans (i.e. pull ahead for holidays), and program build out schedules to ensure adequate raw material and components are available
  • Coordinates with other department personnel to prevent materials obsolescence
  • Purchases other miscellaneous production supplies, as required
  • Utilizes MRP system in Vanguard to determine demand and need for raw materials to support manufacturing requirements
  • Generates vendor release information and conveys to proper destination on a weekly basis
  • Maintains steel Kanban
  • Must be knowledgeable about planned projects in braze mills, single wall mills, coating lines and cutting to ensure that adequate raw material is available to support
  • Monitors inventory levels and adjusts in accordance to departmental and corporate objectives
  • Prevents material obsolescence by coordinating with department personnel
  • If obsolescence occurs, coordinates with applicable personnel to submit and receive claim from customer
  • Coordinates the disposition of obsolete / service components and finished goods
  • Tracks daily system transactions (in Vanguard) and identifies errors (i.e. scanning errors, inventory move errors, incorrect p / nā€™s used when scanning)
  • Creates queries and downloads from AS400 (Vanguard)
  • Leads daily cycle counts and investigates errors
  • In Vanguard, batches and unfreezes all system counts
  • Directs Materials Specialist
  • Key contributor to annual physical inventory
  • Prepares, trains and is a lead team member
  • Monitors unproduced labels daily using Vanguard query
  • This assists with identifying parts that were physically produced, but not scanned
  • Follows up with appropriate supervisor or inspector to resolve
  • Maintains a cumulative record of receipts by part number and vendor
  • Provides input of delivery, quality and service information for supplier ratings
  • Works with corporate purchasing in establishing new suppliers and maintaining good relations with existing suppliers
  • Assists with plant layout (raw material, components, and expendable packaging locations)
  • Monitors and purchases miscellaneous supplies
  • Participates in training as required
  • Ensures Housekeeping and Health & Safety Standard are maintained
  • Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards such as TS16949 and ISO14001
  • Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement and cost reduction in the execution of the job function
  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this job description
