Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Relevant purchasing experience, including strong project management skills
  • Manufacturing experience in a fast paced environment is required
  • Automotive industry experience is prefer
  • Experience in production scheduling is required
  • Strong background in sourcing and procuring
  • ASI buying experience is a plus
  • Experienced in managing complex supply chain solutions supporting custom brand marketing initiatives
  • Ability to learn quickly, apply knowledge to systems and processes to improve organizational efficiency
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Customer focus and a “can do” attitude, possesses a strong work ethic and willingness to proactively take ownership of responsibilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills (Intermediate level or greater Microsoft Excel skills)
  • APICS certification is prefer
  • Ability to travel to customer and supplier locations (local USA) as necessary, approximately 15%

Job Description

  • Develop sourcing strategies and recommendations to report to management on new model sourcing and cost reduction opportunities
  • Analyzes bid proposals and negotiates contract terms and conditions (within the budgetary limitations and scope of authority for the position in accordance with established policies and procedures).
  • Issues (and updates) supplier pricing contracts
  • Tracks tool status and follows-up with suppliers to expedite orders as necessary to meet launch deadlines
  • Inform the Deputy General Manager of Purchasing of any issues and prepares reports as requested by management
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and visit supplier facilities as necessary
  • Review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor supplier performance in areas of quality and delivery
  • Establish and implement education and training activities to improve purchasing member knowledge and skill
  • Resolve billing, shipping and quality disputes between suppliers and internal departments
  • Develop strategies which maximize global synergies, reduce program costs, and improve quality and delivery performance
  • Participate in and at times lead savings activities with suppliers and internal cross-functional departments through process reviews on purchase parts
  • Issue RFQ's (Request for Quote). Negotiate with key suppliers for best cost, quality and delivery conditions related to supply of components for new business
  • Support Engineering Change Requests and Cost Savings Projects
  • Provide feedback to suppliers regarding performance and quotations
  • Develop department flow charts to be TS/ISO compliant as the purchasing role continues to grow throughout the organization
